The Five Year Itch: Weekend at the Lake

So unfortunately, I dropped the ball and only took pictures of the kids this weekend… sorry guys. Our small group has become a huge part of our life. I can only hope these people and their children will be a part of it for many, many years. A couple in that group just built a lake house this past year so we helped break it in by visiting on Memorial Day weekend. We had a blast and are so grateful for their hospitality. Here are a few pictures of the kids enjoying their time together.

Warm weather, a beautiful sunset, and one fun couple is what I found myself in the company of a few weeks ago. I had so much fun with Pete and Diane as we walked around the beautifully landscaped gardens and shot their engagement pictures. Only 15 days until Mr. and Mrs. Pete Rainey!

Welcome Kennedy!

There were many blessings that came from my two years working at Harmony Adoptions but one of the best was the friendships I walked away with. In early April one of those friends had a beautiful baby girl, Kennedy Elizabeth. Lisa, Kennedy’s mom, just happens to be a fabulous photographer so I was especially flattered, and slightly nervous, when she asked me to take a few pictures when I came to visit them in the hospital. Here are a few pictures from that visit. Could she be more beautiful?

Layla Owenby

I love the Knoxville Botanical Gardens; the foliage is beautiful and the atmosphere is always very peaceful. With that said, you can only imagine my surprise when I arrived at this photo shoot to find that half of Knoxville was also in attendance. Apparently, the Dogwood Art’s Festival is held here each year and our photo shoot just happened to fall on that weekend. Jimmy, Kathy, and Layla were so patient and such a fun family to work with. This was my second time working with them as two years ago I had the honor of taking pictures of Jimmy and Kathy on their wedding day. This session was for Layla, in celebration of her first birthday. Layla is such a sweet little girl with a beautiful smile; she definitely made this photo shoot very easy!

Lumpkins Family

Jill was the first of my close friends to have a child and I have so enjoyed watching Claire grow and change in her first year. Seeing the joy she has brought to Jeff and Jill’s lives only makes me more eager to have those experiences myself.  In preparation for her birthday, we got together last August to take some pictures at a beautiful neighborhood in Knoxville. Here are a few pictures from that day.

Jill and Claire Lumpkins

Jill is one of my favorite people so I was very happy when she asked me if I would be willing to a mommy and daughter photo shoot. Last June (3 weeks before I was due with Xander) we met up one afternoon to do just that. It was insanely hot that day but both mommy and daughter were great sports!
